The PORTAL Dome is an innovative, fully immersive 360° projection environment designed to bring people together through music, film, conversation, and elevated states of consciousness. Built as a centerpiece of Psychedelic Science 2025 in Denver, this expansive 80-foot immersive dome served as a dynamic gathering space where visuals, sound, community, and inner exploration intersected. I got involved with Portal in 2025, supporting with production, bringing in visionary artists, event assets (including what I call "portal chairs"), and sound engineering a quadraphonic Funktion One setup for 14 hours a day for 7 days, doing 43 shows total. It was one of the best event experiences I've ever had.
I got involved with Portal in 2025. They brought me into support with production, and I ended up helping bring in some visionary artists, brought some event assets (these really cool items I call "portal chairs"—that's not what they're actually called, but in my eyes they'll always be portal chairs), and did a quadraphonic Funktion One sound setup in the 80-foot geodome.
I sound engineered for 14 hours a day for seven days and did 43 shows in seven days. I was the team member that was on site the most throughout the entire Portal Dome experience, and I had the time of my life. It was one of the best event experiences that I've ever had.
This was the second event that I supported for the MAPS psychedelic conference. So I felt really good. That's now my third second public event that I helped to produce for MAPS, continuing my involvement with this important community and conference.
At its core, the PORTAL Dome is more than a stage or a venue—it's an experiential architecture of light, sound, and psychological depth. The curved interior surface becomes a living canvas, wrapping audiences in full-sphere visuals and projection art that dissolve boundaries between performer and observer.
Whether participants were engaging in breathwork, guided ceremonies, visionary art showcases, film screenings, deep conversations, or soul-stirring concerts, the dome created a shared sensory field that encouraged connection, presence, and transformation. The PORTAL Dome was intentionally designed as a place of intimacy and shared exploration—a venue with limited capacity that invited attendees into a deeply engaged communal experience.
By combining cutting-edge projection technology with human storytelling and embodied practice, it became a bridge between art and introspection, science and spirituality. Positioned just steps from the Colorado Convention Center at the Auraria Campus in Denver, the PORTAL Dome was not just a structure—it was a living portal into expanded awareness and collective presence.
I did a quadraphonic Funktion One sound setup in the 80-foot geodome, creating an immersive audio experience that matched the visual immersion of the 360° projection. This quadraphonic system provided spatial audio that enhanced the transformative nature of the experiences within the dome.
I sound engineered for 14 hours a day for seven days, doing 43 shows total. I was the team member that was on site the most throughout the entire Portal Dome experience. This intensive schedule required not just technical expertise, but also stamina, focus, and a deep commitment to ensuring every show was perfect.
The quadraphonic Funktion One system created a spatial audio experience that complemented the 360° visual projection, creating a fully immersive environment where sound and visuals worked together to create transformative experiences. This technical setup was essential to the success of the PORTAL Dome.
The PORTAL Dome hosted a spectrum of events throughout its run, creating diverse experiences that brought people together through different modalities of exploration and connection.
Blending music and projected imagery, these performances created immersive experiences where sound and visuals worked together to create transformative moments. The full-sphere projection and quadraphonic sound created a complete sensory experience.
Focused on inner reflection and connection, these gatherings provided space for participants to engage in breathwork, guided ceremonies, and other practices that supported personal transformation and collective presence.
On consciousness and wellbeing, these educational sessions brought together voices from the forefront of psychedelic culture and visionary expression, creating opportunities for learning and dialogue.
With voices from the forefront of psychedelic culture and visionary expression, these experiences showcased visionary art and created opportunities for artists and participants to connect and create together.
I helped bring in some visionary artists to perform and showcase their work within the PORTAL Dome. These artists brought their unique perspectives and creative expressions to the space, contributing to the diverse programming and transformative experiences.
I also brought some event assets, including these really cool items I call "portal chairs"—that's not what they're actually called, but in my eyes they'll always be portal chairs. These assets contributed to the unique atmosphere and experience of the PORTAL Dome, creating a distinctive environment that supported the transformative nature of the events.
The combination of visionary artists, unique event assets, and the immersive technical setup created a space that was truly special—a place where art, technology, and human experience came together in powerful ways.
This was the second event that I supported for the MAPS psychedelic conference. So I felt really good. That's now my third second public event that I helped to produce for MAPS, continuing my involvement with this important community and conference.
The PORTAL Dome served as a centerpiece of Psychedelic Science 2025 in Denver, creating a space that was integral to the conference experience. By providing an immersive environment for connection, learning, and transformation, the PORTAL Dome contributed to the overall mission of the MAPS conference.
Being part of the MAPS conference community and contributing to these important events has been meaningful. The PORTAL Dome experience was one of the best event experiences I've ever had, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been part of creating this transformative space.
