ETHdo.me
Immersive Gamified Makerspace

ETHdo.me (EthDome) was my creation for ETHDenver 2025—an immersive superheroes' hideout where developers and superheroes discovering their superpowers could learn STEM education, coding, hardware, and ESP32 development. I bought more than 10,000 items for the makerspace that I freely gave away, brought a geodome with projection mapping inside, and created a fully gamified ecosystem where participants earned points through engagement, with points directly converting into meals donated to address food insecurity in Denver. The result: 10,034.3 meals donated and over $8,000 worth of free development hardware distributed to the ETHDenver community.

The Concept

ETHdo.me was my creation for ETHDenver 2025—an immersive superheroes' hideout where developers and superheroes discovering their superpowers could learn STEM education, coding, hardware, and ESP32 development. The concept was to create a fully gamified makerspace experience that blended blockchain, cutting-edge technology, and interactive art to build community, educate, and inspire the next generation of blockchain innovators.

I bought more than 10,000 items for the makerspace that I freely gave away, including over $8,000 worth of ESP32 microcontrollers, sensors, fabrication tools, and related equipment. The centerpiece was a 33-foot projection-mapped geodome with custom Ethereum-themed visuals, Funktion One sound system, padded floors, meditation pillows, and immersive holographic displays.

The gamified ecosystem allowed participants to earn points through getting involved, sharing art or music, learning new skills, and completing quests. These points directly correlated with philanthropic contributions—every point earned translated into meals donated to address food insecurity in Denver, resulting in 10,034.3 meals donated through participant engagement.

Impact & Results

ETHdo.me successfully demonstrated how gamification, enriched by art, music, STEM education, and a supportive co-creative culture, significantly contributes to positive social outcomes. By aligning participant motivation with tangible philanthropic goals and providing a safe, explorative environment with robust educational support, this innovative model effectively fostered community involvement, measurable impact, and comprehensive skill-building.

Key Metrics

The ETHdo.me impact initiative resulted in 56,293.6 total points earned, directly converting to 10,034.3 meals donated to address food insecurity in Denver. Over $8,000 worth of ESP32 microcontrollers, sensors, fabrication tools, and related equipment were given away completely for free, injecting substantial development hardware into the ETHDenver community.

Community Engagement

Total co-creators: 145, registered players: 134, estimated makers: 500, estimated visitors: 4,000, volunteers: 21, musician applications: 96, artists: 10, maker mentors: 5, workshop applications: 16, maker projects: 8, and pre-event Maker meetups sign-ups: 15. The extensive participation demonstrated a powerful co-creative environment.

STEM Education Impact

The Makerspace prominently featured STEM education, providing over 14,000 ESP32-related items, sensors, tools, and resources, catering to makers of all skill levels. This substantial investment in STEM resources facilitated hands-on learning experiences, significantly promoting technical skill development and fostering a passion for innovation among participants.

Philanthropic Model

Applying the ETHDO.ME Mathematical Impact Model, every point earned by participants directly translated into meals donated. For instance, a participant accruing 222 points for volunteering contributed approximately 39.6 meals to those in need in Colorado. This transparent, gamified approach to philanthropy created meaningful engagement and measurable social impact.

Safe Space for Innovation

ETHdo.me was designed to offer a safe, supportive environment for creative exploration and experimentation. Participants were empowered to freely express ideas and collaboratively explore new technologies and creative boundaries, enhancing both community cohesion and individual satisfaction.

Technology & Features

ETHdo.me leveraged cutting-edge frontier technologies to deliver an immersive, mind-expanding experience for all participants. The integration of multiple technologies created a unique environment that blended physical and digital experiences seamlessly.

33-Foot Projection-Mapped Geodome

Central to the experience was a 33-foot projection-mapped geodome featuring custom Ethereum-themed visuals, 200,000+ lumens of Sony laser projection, and immersive 360° video dome production. The dome served as a DJ chill room, inspiration zone, safe zone, and superheroes' hideout with padded floors and meditation pillows.

Funktion One Sound System

World-class Funktion One sound system provided exceptional audio quality for musical performances, workshops, and immersive experiences. The premium sound system elevated the entire experience and created an immersive environment for attendees.

Virtual Reality Experiences

VR experiences provided participants with innovative, immersive, and educational sessions designed to expand cognitive and creative boundaries. These cutting-edge VR offerings complemented the physical makerspace environment.

Ethereal Crystals - NFC Technology

Pioneering gamification technology comprised a collection of 20 three-dimensional, interactive, glowing crystals directly connected to the ETHDO.ME application. Participants interacted physically and digitally with these crystals, bridging tangible art and digital interactivity through Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology.

Local AI Machine

Hosted a local AI machine trained on ETHDenver lore and ESP32 troubleshooting, offering a hands-on example of the power of localized technologies. This AI provided real-time assistance and educational support to makers and developers.

Interactive Quests & Maker Missions

Interactive light sculptures placed throughout the BUIDLer arena featured QR codes and RFID scanners. Makers could connect their projects using simple APIs, with sample projects helping attendees connect their work to the blockchain and the immersive glowing environment.

Music, Arts & Cultural Impact

Musical and artistic performances spanned a wide array of genres and styles, reflecting the diversity and inclusivity at the core of ETHDO.ME's philosophy. Performances ranged from deep techno, psychedelic tech, ambient soundscapes, and modular synthesizer sessions, to funk, disco, and bass music.

Cyberdelic Nexus came through and was fantastic, contributing to the vibrant co-creative atmosphere. The variety of musical and artistic expressions allowed participants to experience a broad spectrum of cultural expressions, deepening community ties and fostering a powerful co-creative atmosphere. We offered critical points of community interaction, social bonding, and appreciation for collective effort, reinforcing participants' sense of belonging and contribution to the overall philanthropic goals.

The comprehensive and diverse event schedule from February 23 through March 2, 2025, offered extensive opportunities for participant engagement across multiple creative, educational, and entertainment-focused activities. The structured Maker Mentor hours consistently provided essential support and guidance, bolstering participant confidence and facilitating collaborative problem-solving. Dome Shows enhanced participant immersion, delivering innovative, educational, and visually stimulating content.
